2013 Capital Request

After a failed bonding bill vote in the House, the final 2013 bonding bill did not include funding for any higher education capital investment projects, let alone funding for the University of Minnesota.

Below are the seven projects that the Board of Regents requested state funding for during the 2013 legislative session.

HEAPR

Higher Education Asset Preservation and Replacement (HEAPR)

Total project cost: $125 Million
$125 million in state funding

A wide variety of building systems, utility infrastructure, energy efficiency, and health and safety, and accessibility projects throughout the University system.

Eddy Hall Renovation

Total project cost: $14.5 Million
$9.7 million in state funding
$4.8 million in University funding

Rehabilitate historic Eddy Hall for the undergraduate, international and transfer student admissions program.

Design a new laboratory facility to replace obsolete facilities serving three Twin Cities colleges.

Design a complete renovation of the Tate Laboratory building for use by the School of Physics and Astronomy and the School of Earth Sciences.

Design, renovate, and expand the existing campus wellness and recreation center at the Crookston campus.
