Amid climbing COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths, Governor Walz called the Minnesota Legislature into a sixth special session on Thursday, November 12, to extend the COVID-19 Peacetime Emergency for another 30 days.

During yesterday’s special session, the Minnesota Senate elected Senator David Tomassoni to serve as President of the Senate for the remainder of 2020. The legislature did not vote to end Governor Walz’s emergency powers, so they will continue for 30 days. The legislature did not pass any bills during the one-day session.

In order to extend his emergency powers for another 30 days, Governor Walz will need to call a seventh special session in December. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to contact our office with any questions.
